Yesterday morning as I slowly awoke I was mindful of the wonder of God, the eternal I AM, with me. How I love feeling the sound of my heavenly Daddy’s beautiful, life-giving “Good morning, beloved!” filling my being!

As my beloved husband, Ross, opened the curtains we took joy in seeing the blue sky. I began imagining a leisurely walk in the sun, time in the garden, and generally enjoying Melbourne’s early Spring weather. 

And then I watched as grey clouds rolled in… 

Wispy at first, one by one they gathered momentum, until they merged into one big mass of cloud. Way before I was ready, the blue sky had disappeared from sight altogether. 

Watching this scene play out, I felt Jesus remind me that the blue sky is still there even if I cannot see it—for a moment, an hour, a day, a week… 

I remembered thoughts found in Ecclesiastes 3; seasons come and seasons go. 

Focusing on Jesus releases you and me to enjoy His gift of a Kingdom-of-heaven mindset. While the metaphorical grey cloud days will occasionally come, I know that hope—holding hands with her travelling companions, joy and peace—is allowed to be our soul’s prevailing normal atmosphere. 

Even as I write this, I see that it is the breath-wind of the beloved Spirit of Jesus that blows the grey clouds away!

I can tell you this from my own story: Even when the cloudy days come—in the natural realm, and in your soul and mine—our redemptive, majestic, always loving, kind, and compassionate Father-God is good all the time! His heart is never grey; what’s more, He invites us into His vibrant, colourful life-giving rest where we take delight in who He is!

So yes, whatever comes, we will wait and watch and see what the Lord will do.
